Here's a few articles and pictures of Accords from around the world.

The brand new 8th generation Accord and Accord Tourer estate will be presented at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Their aim? To compete with top-of-the-range D segment models.

Wider, lower, sportier – saloon and estate alike – the new Honda Accord, which will be presented in Geneva, has gone for a whole new look. The idea? Basically to offer a family saloon that is at once elegant and comfortable, luxurious and practical…

Thus, in terms of design, it trades in the overly cubic rear of the current model for a more rounded look and a more streamlined, dynamic profile. Honda has also banked on more muscular wheel arches.

Interior capacity has also been revised to offer passengers and driver a more spacious feeling. Carefully selected materials, a very high level of trim… Honda has pulled out all the stops!

But the engines have not been left out. The main new feature is the 2.2 i-DTEC diesel engine, which gains 10 hp (150 as opposed to 140) and proves less polluting than its predecessor. Both 2-litre and 2.4-litre petrol power plants have been reworked: the former keeps the same output (156 hp) but has reduced fuel consumption; the latter gains 10 hp (200 as opposed to 190) through an increase in compression ratio (from 10.5 to 11) and the adoption of larger-diameter valves. These three engines will be coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

As for handling, thanks to its lower centre of gravity, new suspension and widened tracks, the new Accord should gain in both manoeuvrability and precision.

According to Honda, the new Accord aspires to first-class environmental qualities, with engines that comply with Euro 5 emissions standards. The diesel unit, notably, is equipped with new piezoelectric multi-stage fuel injection technology, a more efficient exhaust gas recirculation system and a particulate filter for considerably reduced emissions.

Honda also claims to have gone all out in terms of safety, offering numerous driver assistance systems such as adaptive electric power steering (fitted as standard), the Lane Keeping Assist System (a camera that detects any
change of lane),
Cruise Control (adapting the speed according to traffic) and the Collision Mitigation Brake System (a collision warning system that
attempts to limit damage if an accident is inevitable)…

Market launch of the new Accord and Accord Tourer is planned for early summer 2008. Prices will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show.
